THE TEAM
Johann Maree

Johann has 30 years of experience working with financial advisers in practice management, professional development and compliance roles in South Africa and Australia.

He is passionate about integrating the disciplines of adviser business strategy, operational efficiency, financial planning and values-based client engagement in advice businesses. To this end Johann has trained with George Kinder and Carol Anderson, the pioneers of Life Planning in the USA and has also worked with Australian Business Training on the Psychology of Client Decision Making.

Johann has held senior management positions in Professional Development, Wealth Management and Practice Management and was also an owner/director of his own practice management consultancy for 7 years.

He has an LLB degree, is a Certified Behavioural Financial Adviser (USA), holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and a Certificate IV in Compliance and Risk Management. He has also co-authored two books on the Business of Financial Advice.Johann enjoys cycling and fishing and conjuring up magic meals on the family BBQ over the weekend.
Marius Vermeulen

Marius has a post-graduate management diploma from Wits Business School and specialises in streamlining business systems and processes.

Marius has been developing software and complex information management systems since 1993. He has also acted as a consultant to large financial services companies. In 1999 Marius started his own business where he was actively involved in developing software, creating management information systems and financial planning software. Some of which have been used by award winning financial planners.

He was also the co-founder of a Financial Planning Software business which was sold to a large Insurance company in 2013. Since then, he has been involved in building online solutions for Investment Firms and Financial Advisers.

Marius skillset also saw him work as Managing Director of an Underwriting firm until he was persuaded to join the AstuteWheel team in 2022.

Marius enjoys his family, dogs, cat, a few pet rabbits and cricket. On a weekend, he says, there is nothing better than standing over the coals and preparing a meal for his family.
